Nokia 3310 turns 19 years old, Tweets by people get nostalgic
New Delhi: The iconic Nokia 3310 has turned 19 and those who used it could not hide their love as one of the strongest and most popular mobile phones on social media platforms.
Born on September 1, 2000, the device had a dark blue body, emitted a deep green light from its small screen, and kept a catchy game called "Snake".
An entire generation grew up loving the iconic Nokia 3310. Then came the Nokia 1100 in 2003 - a sturdy case with a built-in torch - which quickly became the best-selling consumer electronics device of its time. This was the golden age of Nokia - hardly a competitor to watch.
In 2016, HMD Global was licensed to sell Nokia-branded devices for the next 10 years.
As people came to know that Nokia 3310 is the birth anniversary, they took to Twitter.
"One of the best mobile phones with a good battery," one user wrote.
"Back then, a phone was a phone, today it is a multiple personality disorder," another wrote.
Being a feature phone, the Nokia 3310 can perform certain functions like calling, SMS, calculator, stopwatch etc.
"Every single one of them is still working today," @JasonWeakley tweeted.
With a price tag of Rs 3310, the feature phone made a comeback to a completely new Indian market in June 2017, with cheap Chinese smartphones as well as many feature phones.
Available in four stunning colors, the plastic body device has two SIM slots and a microSD card slot (32 GB).
With a 1,200mAh battery, the device gave 22 hours of talk time and up to a month of standby time.
The device has two versions of the trial version - Asphalt 6: Adrenaline and Diamond Twister - pre-installed.
In addition, you can use 2G Internet to browse and even scroll through Facebook with Messenger capabilities.
