Samsung has introduced two new applications for deafblind and visually impaired. The Good Vibes and Relumino applications are a solid communication tool for deafblind people, which will also allow a person with low vision to see better. The tools have been developed in India. The Good Vibes application will help those who cannot see and speak to have two-way communication with their caregivers and loved ones who use their phones.
"We are happy to have been able to develop technologies such as Good Vibes and Relumino that will help improve the quality of life of deafblind people and people with low vision, allowing them to be more aware of the world around them and be better integrated with society." said Peter Rhee, corporate vice president of Samsung India. The company says that the Good Vibes application takes advantage of Morse code to convert vibrations into text or voice and vice versa. “The application has two different user interfaces (UI). One interface has an invisible user interface for deafblind people, which uses vibrations, touches and gestures, while the other has a visible user interface, a standard chat interface, for the caregiver, ”said Samsung. You can download the company's Good Vibes application through the Samsung Galaxy Store. In addition, the same application will soon be available through the Google Play Store as well.
The company's second Relumino application is a visual aid application for people with low vision. It allows them to see clearer images by increasing and minimizing images, highlighting the contour of the image, adjusting the contrast and brightness of the color, and reversing the color. For Relumino, Samsung has partnered with the National Association for the Blind (NAB) Delhi. It will provide Samsung Gear VR and Galaxy Note9 smartphones to NAB Delhi, and also provide training on how to use them. "NAB will use the solution in classrooms where students with low vision who use these devices will be able to see better, helping them improve their learning skills," Samsung said.
