Airtel Readies For Battle With Jio With Xstream Stick and Xstream Box
Bharti Airtel has announced major updates for the XStream Entertainment platform, which means that it is no longer limited to the online and software side only. Airtel Xstream services are also now being expanded to add new hardware products. This means that Airtel users can access XStream on their phones via the Airtel XStream app via the XStream website on their PCs, and now Airtel integrating the DTH and streaming app experience with their TV and Airtel XStream boxes You can also access the XStream box. Airtel users will continue to use Airtel XStream content, based on which Airtel is eligible for Thank You benefits, which in turn depend on the postpaid tariff plan, prepaid recharge plan or broadband plan to which they are subscribed. The announcement comes just before the launch of the much-awaited Reliance Jio Fiber Broadband service that offers bundled subscriptions for video streaming platforms as well as priority service to Jio users.
The two devices added to the Xstream platform are Xstream Stick and Xstream Box. The XStream Stick is designed to plug into any HD TV via an HDMI port. It costs Rs 3,999. If you are an Airtel Platinum or Airtel Gold customer, you will be able to get complimentary access to all content, while other Airtel users will have to pay Rs 999 per year to get all access passes. Airtel XStream Stick 1.6GHz processor with built-in Chromecast, and will allow access to Netflix, Amazon Prime Video and other streaming apps. The Google Play Store is also available on the device, which opens up a wide world of apps that you can download.
The XStream Box is an Android 9.0 based hybrid box that matches Direct to Home (DTH) services as well as streaming apps in one package. If you already have an Airtel Digital TV connection, you can simply upgrade to this box to get new smart features. The Airtel XStream box is priced at Rs 3,999 and the price of the Xstream subscription in a year is Rs 999. Airtel is also offering one month HD subscription.
These hardware additions to the XStream platform have come at a time when Airtel has relaunched the app from Airtel TV and has given a completely new coat of paint to the streaming website.
