Apple Security Warning : iOS 13 Leaves Millions Of iPhones At Risk

Apple Security Warning :  iOS 13 Leaves Millions Of iPhones At Risk

The latest update of Apple's iOS operating system is only a few days away. On September 10, along with the latest generation of bright smartphones, iOS 13 arrives with its large number of security updates. But not all is good news for the more than one billion Apple iPhone users. Because for those who still persist with something older than an iPhone 6s, the new update will not work. And from a security perspective, that's really bad news.

According to reports, Apple sent around 200 million units of iPhone 6 and 6 Plus, for example. And all those phones will be downloaded in OS-limbo with the release of iOS 13. The phones will continue to work, but security updates will not be made. Essentially, you are alone.

There is clearly a good reason for such obsolescence. Performance improvements drive the need for better hardware. There is only a large part of an envelope in terms of hardware that can be covered by a single instance of the operating system. And for those older devices, Apple has decided that after more than five years, it is enough.

iOS13 is only compatible with the following devices:

iPhone XS
iPhone XS Max
iPhone XR
iPhone X
iPhone 8
iPhone 8 Plus
iPhone 7
iPhone 7 Plus
iPhone 6s
iPhone 6s Plus
iPhone SE
iPod touch (7th generation)
So, if you're reading this on something older, on an iPhone 6/6 Plus, iPhone 5S or on older iPads and iPad Minis, then it's time to dust off the cobwebs of your wallet and head to an Apple Store. That, of course, is the other good reason for obsolescence: the commercials of the giant of Cupertino.

Which means leaving older devices exposed. The recently confirmed Chinese web hacking that reached iOS devices until a patch in February, and the even more recent emergency patch 12.4.1 to close a hacking vulnerability will show how important these updates are to keep our phones and all of our safe and healthy data.

The security improvements that come with the new release of iOS 13 include better surveillance of what applications can do in the background, essentially far from our prying eyes, an irritation to Facebook's tastes with its addiction to tracking. There will be stricter controls on location tracking, again intended to put users first, and the much-discussed "Sign in with Apple" alternative to provide other credentials to applications and services, reducing the need to provide Email addresses to third parties.
