Galaxy S10, four Galaxy Note 10 and the impending launch of two Galaxy Folds
With four different Galaxy S10, four Galaxy Note 10 and the impending launch of two Galaxy Folds, Samsung's flagship line for this year has officially reached ten phones. Maybe this is too much, but Samsung doesn't seem to think that. It is now launching a variant of the Galaxy Note 10 Blockchain brand to attract customers waiting for a Samsung flagship focused on the cryptocurrency.
The Wall Street Journal reports that the Galaxy Note 10 variant, which is only available in South Korea, will be marketed as a "KlaytnPhone." It is named for a blockchain platform made by the blockchain arm of Kakao, a courier company from South Korea. WSJ says that the KlaytnPhone will have a crypto wallet and integrated blockchain applications, and will also give users a "certain amount" of Klay, a cryptocurrency made by Kakao.
Having a wallet and blockchain applications built into a phone is not exactly new: Samsung included a crypto wallet in some Galaxy S10, HTC already offers a blockchain phone, and the Journal also says that other Android phones can run Klaytn's blockchain applications. But, according to the Journal, only the KlaytnPhone "will boast the full extent of blockchain platform transaction services."
Otherwise, the KlaytnPhone has the same hardware and is expected to have the same price as the Galaxy Note 10 without blockchain, reports the Journal. (According to reports, the KlaytnPhone will also display the Klaytn logo when it starts and turns off, in case you forget what version of the Galaxy Note 10 you have.
